Application

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to conduct basic research and present information in response to an identified need.

The unit applies to all industry sectors and to any individual who needs to use very basic research and presentation skills in the workplace. People working under supervision would undertake this role.

The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice.

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Assessment conditions

Skills must be demonstrated in:

  • an industry workplace; or
  • a simulated industry environment set up for the purposes of assessment.

Assessment must ensure access to:

  • current information and communications technology
  • sources of information:
    • customer feedback
    • general and trade media
    • industry associations
    • industry marketing or research bodies
    • lectures and presentations
    • other colleagues and personnel
    • product suppliers
    • trade shows and exhibitions.

Assessors must satisfy the Standards for Registered Training Organisations’ requirements for assessors.
